Competition Rules

This Half Marathon event will be conducted in accordance with the 2025 World Athletics (WA) and JAAF rules and regulations and the Race Regulations.

Runners are assigned to 4 corrals and start at 3-minute intervals (wave start).

Qualification requirements Persons who are 18 years or older and can finish within the time limit on the day of the event.
(Participation in wheelchairs is not allowed.)

  • Gross time refers to the time from the starter’s pistol until the runner crosses the finish line.

Notes

  • Priority quotas for disabled persons are available for those with a Shintai Shogaisha Techo (Certificate of the Physically Disabled), etc. Participation in wheelchairs is not permitted for the Half Marathon or Youth Run.
  • In the Half Marathon and the Youth Run, people with disabilities who would have trouble running alone are allowed to have an escort runner (guide dogs are not allowed as escorts). The escort runner's participation fee is free, but the escort runner's time will not be recorded unless the escort runner also registers as a participant.
  • In the Fun Run, people who would have trouble running alone are allowed to have an escort runner (guide dogs are not allowed as escorts). Participation using regular wheelchairs and baby strollers is also allowed. However, competition wheelchairs are not allowed.
  • In the Fun Run, preschool participants must be accompanied by an adult guardian.
    Participants who are capable of running alone and are old enough to be in school may not be accompanied by an escort runner.
  • The assignment to corrals in the Half Marathon will be based on the order of the times self-reported by applicants.
  • Applications for the Half Marathon or Youth Run submitted online using RUNNET or Run Japan will be subject to a handling fee in addition to the participation fee.
    Charity registration runners shall pay a handling fee for the 10,000 yen participation fee, but the handling fee for the 30,000 yen donation will be waived.
  • System fee (RUNNET): 240 yen for payments up to 4,000 yen, 6% for payments over 4,000 yen.
  • Fun Run participants will be exempt from the above system fee, which shall be covered by the Executive Committee Secretariat.

Course

  • The Half Marathon starts near Minato City Shiba Park, passes through major roads such as Hibiya-dori Avenue, Daiichi-Keihin, Sakurada-dori Avenue and Sotobori-dori Avenue, and finishes at Tokyo Tower.
  • The Fun Run starts near Minato City Shiba Park, goes north along Hibiya-dori Avenue, turns left at the Minato City Shiba Koen 3-chome intersection, and finishes inside, Tokyo Metropolitan Shiba Park No.4 (on the north side of Minato City Library).
  • The Youth Run starts near Minato City Shiba Park, goes north along Hibiya-dori Avenue, then, like the Half Marathon, passes through Sakurada-dori Avenue and finishes at Tokyo Tower.

A total of five control gates will be set up on the course.

Rest Station

A rest station will be set up at the Shiba Gakuen-shita intersection (5.3 km and 20.2 km).

Delivery of Number Cards, etc.

Number cards and the chip for time measurement will be sent to participants whose participation has been decided in early November. Number cards will not be given out on the day of the event, and there will not be a reception, so please come to the designated location by your designated time with your number card already on.
